We Unite and Strengthen the Conservation Community Through
Education, Advocacy, Collaboration and Communication
.

Education: We coordinate training and educational opportunities for land trusts and communities to foster collaborative learning.

Advocacy: We unite and empower land trusts to be effective champions for their work. Further, we engage government leaders and advocate for increased investments for land conservation.

Collaboration: We create forums for the conservation community to share experiences and expertise. Together, we identify areas of alignment and develop strategies to advance shared conservation goals.

Communication: We forge meaningful relationships through effective communication. We leverage our network to elevate the collective impact of our alliance and increase awareness for the value and importance of land conservation.

Our Mission

Our mission is to increase the pace and quality of land protection in Indiana by enhancing the capacity of Indiana’s land conservation community.

Our Members

Member land trusts serve all 92 counties in Indiana. From cultural lands to agricultural acreage and scenic views to remnant habitats, member land trusts are working toward the same thing – to protect these special places forever.

Our History

ILPA was established in 2000 as a coalition of land trusts, government agencies and other organizations seeking to coordinate efforts for land conservation. Thanks to their efforts, ILPA filed for incorporation in 2004, gained 501(c)(3) status in 2016, and has been building a professional workforce since 2019.  We are guided by our shared vision of a resilient future for Indiana lands. Collaboration has always been central to our mission. Together, we celebrate successes, overcome challenges, and work to conserve and restore land in Indiana.
