The President Benjamin Harrison Conservation Trust (PBHCT) is a state initiative dedicated to conserving land for future generations. It honors the legacy of Indiana’s only president, Benjamin Harrison, a champion of land conservation. The program, which was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, builds upon the foundation of the Indiana Heritage Trust, which was created in 1992. It is a testament of our state’s commitment to conserving Indiana’s natural and cultural heritage.
Further, short term initiatives including the Bicentennial Nature Trust and, more recently, the Next Level Conservation Trust, accelerated the number of acres protected. Many of these projects were made possible thanks to land trusts’ partnerships with the Indiana DNR, willing landowners, and support from many private donors.
The PBHCT is powered by Environmental License Plate sales, state appropriations, and private donations. When you renew your plates, choose Blue to support Indiana land and water conservation.
