Our Values

Uniting our Alliance

We believe that Indiana’s land trusts and conservation partners are stronger when we work together. Each organization brings unique strengths, perspectives, and ideas. By joining forces, we can better protect the natural lands, waters, and working lands that make Indiana special.

Caring for the Future

We are committed to protecting and caring for natural lands, waters, and working lands for future generations. This ensures that Indiana’s landscapes can thrive for years to come.

Connecting People and Enhancing Quality of Life

We understand that Indiana’s land trusts play a vital role in connecting people with nature and enhancing quality of life. Clean air, clean water, sustainable food systems, and the diverse plants and animals that make Indiana special all contribute to vibrant, healthy communities.

Accelerating and Inspiring Conservation Efforts

We recognize the need to significantly increase land conservation across Indiana. By building a strong network of land trusts and conservation partners, we can protect more land, preserve our natural and cultural heritage, and inspire others to join us. Our work unites Indiana residents in the effort to conserve our state’s most treasured places.

Ensuring Equity in Access

We are dedicated to ensuring that every Indiana resident, now and in the future, has access to the benefits of nature. We work to serve all communities across the state by preserving and enhancing natural spaces that everyone can enjoy.

Our Members

Member land trusts serve all 92 counties in Indiana. From cultural lands to agricultural acreage and scenic views to remnant habitats, member land trusts are working toward the same thing – to protect these special places forever.

Our History

ILPA was established in 2000 as a coalition of land trusts, government agencies and other organizations seeking to coordinate efforts for land conservation. Thanks to their efforts, ILPA filed for incorporation in 2004, gained 501(c)(3) status in 2016, and has been building a professional workforce since 2019.  We are guided by our shared vision of healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities that are deeply connected to the natural world. Collaboration has always been central to our mission. Together, we celebrate successes, overcome challenges, and work to conserve and restore land in Indiana.

Our Vision

Indiana Land Protection Alliance is a leader in forging powerful partnerships at the local, state, and federal levels. Through our unwavering conservation work, we inspire and advance the creation of healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities that are deeply connected to the natural world.
